How We Began

In Gonaives in the year 2007, precisely after Hurricane Jeanne, Edner Henry, Enoch Arbouet, and Pastor Arnold Principal gathered together to create an organization, Haitian Churches Coalition Against Hunger and Illness Inc., to assist the hungry, take care of the ill, and cover the naked. With no money at all, we by faith, started with one bag of rice, one bag of beans, one bag of flour, one bag of sugar and two gallons of corn oil. Mrs. Jean-Baptiste Pierre of Gonaives accepted to cook from her home. For the first three months we were able to feed 180 people. But then, because of a lack of money to continue, we were inspired to start a 'bread of love' program. One brother from my Church in West Palm Beach contributed with $20.00. Pastor Principal's family physician added to that $200.00. We sent that money to a bakery shop in Haiti called Boulangerie 2004. They cooked and sent to Mrs. Pierre 300 breads every week during three months, so our program survived.

In Orlando, Rossener Jean-Pierre, who just got the nominee as the second President of the Organization, joined us and allowed us to use a space in his office, again lack of money, we could not make it in Orlando. We decided to come back to Palm Beach County from where we are now operating as a legal charitable corporation with a purpose.
And that purpose is to promote and further the rights and the aspirations of the Haitian communities in different cities in the state of Florida, and to assist members of the Haitian community in integrating into the American society. We encourage their full participation in the society to foster and encourage the development of members of the Haitian community culturally, physically, and socially.
Not only do we assist the poor and the ill throughout the cities of Florida, but also throughout the world.
